The NLA's Standards and Guidelines describe the standard the field is working toward. They set the target for leadership education, private practice, and professional conduct, and they are reviewed as the field advances.
Many programs that carry the leadership name are management programs with a new title. The standards draw that line plainly. Leadership education covers vision, behavior, cognition, culture, influence, and human development, grounded in research. Programs, practitioners, and the NLA itself are measured against that target.
